Hōkūleʻa is a feature documentary for Patagonia Films about a very particular, rarefied relationship with nature.
It is an exploration of the ancient art and magic of Polynesian Wayfinding, an incredible method of navigating vast distances of ocean aboard sailing canoes, without the use of instruments; only the clues of nature and the human mind. The film follows Hawaiian master navigator Nainoa Thompson, who helped bring Wayfinding back from the edge of extinction, on his final voyage across the pacific.
Currently in post-production and scheduled for theatrical release in Fall 2024.
