  • Jen randall

    Owner, Editor.

Jen Randall is an editor and director who aims to empower, entertain and challenge viewers with emotive narratives and a quiet sense of fun. She loves to dig deep into character and make films with a message.

For over a decade, Jen has specialized in unearthing the unique creative threads that make intimate, character-driven stories powerfully authentic and universal. She firmly believes in championioning female voices and has repeatedly done so in the adventure documentary world where, for her, adventure sport provides a stellar backdrop for very human stories.

Jen’s films have been distributed across international cinemas, awarded major prizes at mountain film festivals, sold for broadcast, and gained large online followings. She is currently most excited about editing, directing and story development work, with goals that include taking her skills and passion to the wider documentary arena, creating work with an environmental slant, and helping more marginalized voices find their platform.

In her own time, Jen can be found climbing and skiing with a stills camera in hand, trying to learn the piano in her living room or taking slow walks with her beloved, elderly rescue dog, Crux.

If you have an idea or story you’d like to explore with Jen, drop her a line!

  • Jay Mac

    Owner, Editor.

Over the past decade, Jay Macmillan (aka Jay Mac) has immersed himself into the art of film editing, a passion which has led him to work with some of the most influential artists, athletes, and brands in the industry. Jay thrives on stories that involve creative risks, unlikely heroes and an abyss of media. During years filled with month-long render benders, Jay has evolved from a nuanced editor into an experienced director, often co-directing films with his peers from concept to completion – ensuring all facets of post-production are harmonized. Films Jay has edited and directed have garnered numerous Vimeo staff picks, festival awards and amassed over 10 million views online. Recently, Jay has directed his first independent documentary, which released in Fall 2021 to critical acclaim.

When he’s not editing, you’ll find Jay skiing and or boarding, walking Maggie (his dog), watching classic films, spinning vinyl, and...sleeping.

  • Tim Symes

    Owner, Editor.

Despite repeated warnings, Tim still continues to turn both the kettle and microwave on at the same time. This almost always causes the power to trip, requiring a visit to the warehouse to re-flip the breaker. Take this as a metaphor for who Tim is. He’s a maverick, who doesn’t play by the rules. He’s a multitasker, making the most efficient use of his time. He’s not afraid to make a mistake. But most importantly he’s sorry he keeps blowing the power.

Despite the above, Tim is and always will be a safe pair of hands. As proficient in cutting documentary work as he is commercials, Tim gives his all to achieve the best possible edits for his clients. With 15 years of industry experience, he will always bring enthusiasm and creativity to every project he works on.

Tim loves to balance his time editing with trail running, snowboarding, and mountain biking in the Sea to Sky.

Jen's editing has style and flow, and she brings a director's knack for story and character to her work. She is a joy to collaborate with, implementing notes with agility, improving upon her own ideas and continually pushing to explore and accentuate themes, develop pacing around integral plot points and find the human moments that make a film special.”

Jay Mac has a rare combination of not only natural storytelling talent but also the heart and soul to see it all through with meticulous detail in the edit bay. His collaborative vision on our NatGeo / Sony Everest film The Ghosts Above kept evolving with fresh ideas and positivity to the very end, so much so we named him a co-director!”

Watching one of Jen’s films back in 2016 I knew I had to work with her. The style, the creativity, the humour, the thoughtfulness… I worked with Jen on a multi-year, feature length documentary project which was very personal to me. From the start, I felt I was in safe hands, but definitely not boring, predictable ones, which safe often means. Jen is daring and bold in her visions, uniquely creative and masterful at threading so many elements together seamlessly and professionally. I highly recommend Jen - she is a joy to work with.”

The best Canadian film this year is one that was unanimously acclaimed by the judges across all of its categories. Director Jay Macmillan leads the viewers so eloquently into his personal journey that his experience transcends the screen and becomes the viewers’ own. The editing is nothing short of brilliant, mixing deeply personal archival footage and soundscapes in a way that is so deeply moving that it will stay with you forever. Stunning cinematography, patient storytelling, and an unbelievable story make Sonder one of the most compelling films of this year’s festival.”
